John —
I am the underdog, grassroots candidate for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin. I know this isn’t the first time you’ve read that in these emails.
I’m up against candidates with billions in wealth and millions in name recognition.
But I have you — and really, that’s all that matters. Chip in now to support my campaign→
But that’s not all we’re up against — Ron Johnson has the full support of Wisconsin’s disgraced ex-Governor. Last week, in an article expressing his support for Ron Johnson’s reelection, Scott Walker —
who has lost many elections — called me a loser!
That’s right. A loser. He was talking about some of my previous runs for office.
It made me think of the late-Senator Bill Proxmire of Wisconsin. Prox was the hardest working U.S. Senator in history. His campaigns were legendary — one year he logged 1,200 miles jogging and walking around the state shaking hands and meeting voters.
Before he won his seat in the U.S. Senate, he lost three times. In his last run, no one gave him a chance, many didn’t want him to run in the first place. Near the end of the campaign, Prox said:
My opponent doesn't know what it is to lose. I do. And I'll welcome the support of voters who do, too. I'll take the losers. I'll take the debtors. I'll take those who've lost in love, or baseball, or in business.
He won.
Scott Walker is many things but he is no statesman. And that goes double for Ron Johnson. Ron Johnson has embarrassed our state. He incited an insurrection, spread conspiracy theories, and cut taxes for the rich the rest of us are stuck paying.
He needs to lose — and together, we can make it happen. Please, chip in now to support my campaign→
