** Sex & Power 2022
------------------------------------------------------------

Today we have published the 2022 Sex & Power Index - our biennial report which charts the progress towards equal representation for women in top jobs across the UK.

This year's Sex & Power Index shows a glacial pace of change, with men continuing to dominate most senior roles, with women outnumbered 2:1 by men. This has to change.

** Where are the women in positions of power?
------------------------------------------------------------

➡️ Less than 1/3 of the UK’s top jobs are filled by women.
➡️ There is an unacceptable lack of women of colour in positions of power and missing altogether from senior roles such as Supreme Court Justices, Metro Mayors, Police and Crime Commissioners and FTSE 100 CEOs.
➡️ The last two Westminster elections have seen scant progress with the proportion of female MPs at 34%, following the 2019 election.
➡️ Women remain just 8% of FTSE 100 CEOs.
➡️ Just 34% of those serving on the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) and related subgroups advising cabinet on the coronavirus response are women.

** We need your help to make misogyny a hate crime
------------------------------------------------------------
📣 We are urgently calling for you, our supporters, to write to your MP and ask for their support to make misogyny a hate crime 👇
Crimes driven by misogyny - from online abuse to snatching Muslim women's headscarves in the street - are unacceptable. They must be recognised and recorded as hate crimes.

By asking your MP for support of the Newlove Amendment to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, that passed with a great majority in the House of Lords this week, you can help ensure that action is taken to tackle violence against women and girls.

With determination, we continue our campaign and call for the Government to take action and address the misogynistic abuse women face. This is a real opportunity to make change happen.

It only takes 30 seconds to write to your MP using our online action and if we want Ministers to hear our calls, the time to act is now!

** Ethnicity Pay Gap campaign: new research report
------------------------------------------------------------
The 8th January marked Ethnicity Pay Gap Day established by the #EthnicityPayGap campaign ([link removed]) . The extent of the ethnicity pay gap is staggering and stands at an estimated £3.2 billion a year - but there is no sense of urgency from Government to make ethnicity pay gap reporting mandatory.

As part of Ethnicity Pay Gap Day 2022, the campaign published The Impact of the Ethnicity Pay Gap on Black Women in the UK ([link removed]) , showing that 52% of Black women in the UK are paid less than their white colleagues with pay disparity up to £10,000.

Alongside the #EthnicityPayGap campaign, Fawcett is renewing calls on Government to introduce intersectional, ethnicity pay gap reporting - as part of our latest Sex & Power Index.
