![]() Join us Saturday, Jan. 22 at 10 am as we address growing concerns over renters getting priced out of California, or onto the streets — and the need for AB 854.
By passing AB 854, legislators can make it harder for market-rate developers to buy and empty a building of low-income and elderly renters, to create yet another posh, high-security building with $2,000 refrigerators.
Join us Saturday with Aubrey Rodriguez, legislative director for Bay Area Assemblymember Alex Lee, author of AB 854. Lee’s bill has gained huge momentum in recent days, with legislators joining on as co-authors and respected renter rights groups urging its passage.
AB 854 was approved today, Jan. 20, by the powerful Assembly Appropriations Committee in Sacramento. It is expected to face a crucial vote from the entire state Assembly next week.
A lively discussion with Aubrey Rodriguez will be led by Livable California board president Rick Hall, who has worked to save a low-income neighborhood in San Francisco.
They will discuss:
By passing AB 854, the State Capitol can move in a better direction, after years of failing to seriously fund low-income housing or protect existing affordable housing.
Please join us as we get ready to make the case in 2022 that California can create affordable housing and preserve thriving neighborhoods. We ask that you donate to us today, right here. We are small fry fighting the wealthiest concerns in California. We thank you so much!
