It’s shameful.
Last night, Democratic Senators Kyrsten Sinema, Joe Manchin, and their GOP colleagues including Rand Paul voted no on abolishing the filibuster and then blocked the passage of the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
Rand Paul and his colleagues know what they’re doing. They know that the only way they’re going to keep seats in states like Kentucky is by cheating, lying, and suppressing as many of our voices as they can.
Let’s show Rand that his plan isn’t going to work this time around. It costs $0.05 for us to reach a voter in Kentucky. Will you chip in $5 right now to support our voter outreach efforts and show Rand Paul that this movement is mobilizing all to turnout a record number of voters this year?
The struggles that working families face in Kentucky are immense. We deserve bold, meaningful solutions that match the scale of challenges we currently face. We deserve a Kentucky New Deal.
But politicians like Manchin, Sinema, and Rand Paul have made it clear that they couldn't care less about our needs: they will continue using the filibuster to block voting protections, the Women’s Health Protection Act, the Build Back Better Act, climate action, and so much more.
With this next election, we have the power to come together and finally elect someone who will fight for us. That’s why Charles is in this race — because he knows exactly what it feels like to be abandoned by our politicians.
Charles knows what it’s like to choose between paying rent and refilling a prescription.
Charles knows what it’s like to be homeless – to watch his mother skip meals so that he had enough food on his plate.
And Charles knows that he’s not the only one who’s gone through these challenges. Kentuckians have been suffering for decades. Not because we’re lazy, not because we don’t want a better life for our children. Because our politicians aren’t willing to fight for us.
Not anymore.
Let’s do this,
