John,

Yesterday, I went on the Senate floor and spoke on an issue that has spanned the length of American history: the right to vote, and our duty to work together and protect access to the ballot box.

For the past 50 years, there has been a consensus that the Voting Rights Act is a critical protection against voter suppression and anti-democratic voting laws. It was re-authorized five times by strong, bipartisan majorities, and in 2006 unanimously.

But now, that consensus has frayed. Let me be clear, this act is not just a piece of legislation but a fundamental question of protecting our democracy and the voice of every American.

John -- we must continue to push for action. In the words of my late friend and hero, John Lewis, we must never give up.

If you agree that the Senate must protect voting rights, join me in adding your name today.
