A simple reading of Virginia law makes it clear that the Governor doesn't have the power to end mask mandates in schools - those decisions are left to School Boards and local government. But Republicans are threatening to withold school funding from communities that refused to comply with his ridiculous orders (what ever happened to local control of schools and government?). Thankfully, Fairfax and Prince William Counties have already declared that they will not move backwards and risk the health of their students, teachers, and staff by continuing to require masking - but communities in other areas will not be so lucky.
