John,

Big Tobacco has been caught trying to fool us once again.

A new investigation by the Daily Beast revealed that British American Tobacco (BAT) is the driving force behind the so-called World Vapers’ Alliance, a front group masquerading as a grassroots initiative of anti-smoking advocates.

According to the investigation, British American Tobacco – the world’s largest publicly traded tobacco company – aimed to use World Vapers’ Alliance to pressure government officials and roll back critical health policies such as flavored tobacco bans, health warnings and increased taxes.

If this sounds surprising, it shouldn’t.

Big Tobacco has secretly created, funded and orchestrated independent-sounding front groups to undermine proven public health policies around the world for decades. British American Tobacco – which owns RJ Reynolds, maker of Camel and Newport cigarettes – is simply providing the latest example.

Now, it’s up to us to expose them.

Read our statement to learn more about British American Tobacco’s shameful stunt, then share the news with your networks on social media.

John, companies like BAT claim they’ve reformed and are working to reduce the enormous harm caused by their products. But their actions tell a different story: They continue to deceive the public while selling billions of cigarettes every year and vigorously fighting policies that save lives.

This discovery about World Vapers’ Alliance is a wake-up call to government officials around the world. And this organization is far from the only front group doing the tobacco industry’s bidding. Will you help us call attention to Big Tobacco’s dangerous playbook?

Best,
