One year ago today, President Biden took office and immediately issued an executive order making equity and racial justice “the responsibility of the whole of our government,” becoming the first president to embrace the equity movement. PolicyLink and Race Forward were honored to work closely with the administration to inform this order, which set the tone for the administration’s first year in office.
Since this time, President Biden has issued numerous executive orders and passed transformative recovery bills to invest in communities, families, and workers. Yet there is much more work to be done to realize these goals. To mark this occasion, we are releasing a new brief, Advancing Racial Equity in Year 2 of the Biden Administration, addressing the ongoing work to advance equity throughout the federal government.
As the Biden Administration now tackles passing national voting rights legislation, on February 3 — the anniversary of the passage of the 15th Amendment — PolicyLink and Race Forward will co-host a discussion with special guests Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley and Nse Ufot of the New Georgia Project at 10 am ET to reflect on the past year and the work ahead.
We look forward to continuing to work with you to build a more equitable future for all.
