Friends -

Washington failed us last night.

The Senate put the Freedom to Vote Act up for a vote, and when Republicans blocked it, two Democratic senators lacked the courage necessary to protect our constitutional rights and democracy.

It is once again clear that a 50-50 seat tie is not enough. Democrats need to expand our majority with two Senators who understand the stakes of this fight and who are unafraid to act — even if that means ending the filibuster.

Val Demings and I can win and deliver those two seats. You can count on us to deliver for our families, but we need your support.

Will you split a donation between my campaign and Val Demings’ campaign to flip these two Senate seats? Together, we can turn North Carolina and Florida blue, but it is going to take lots of grassroots support.

Fifty-six years ago, my mother was able to vote because of the Voting Rights Act, an effort to protect her right to vote. If my mother were alive today, she would be mortified by Washington’s failure to protect this right — not just among political parties but even among Democrats.

In this moment, the failure to stand up for our fundamental, constitutional right to vote turns back the tide while our democracy is under attack.

It is unfair and unjust. It’s an abdication of responsibility by our leaders.

If you refuse to let two Senators stand in the way of progress and protecting our democracy, then please split a donation between my campaign and Val Demings’ campaign right now. It is time for us to deliver results for the American people.

With our rights on the line, we need to elect new leaders who will put people above partisan self-interest and do the right thing even when it’s hard. If Val and I were in the Senate, the Freedom to Vote Act would be headed to President Biden’s desk right now.

Let’s get this done and make some history!
