Dear John, You may have seen that yesterday the Senate once again failed to protect our democracy and pass voting rights. This is a big deal, but it’s not the end. I’m still committed to finding a path to protect the right to vote for millions of Americans and combat the wave of voter suppression we’re seeing in Republican-controlled legislatures across the country. As I said last week (I’ve included my note below in case you missed it!), we’re in the fight of our lives to build a healthy democracy that engages working class communities and communities of color. I’ll keep working with organizers, community leaders, and my Congressional colleagues until we make it a reality -- but I can’t do it without you. Can I count on you to chip in to help maintain the movement for our democracy? Doing nothing is not an option, so I’ll keep fighting. Are you with me? In solidarity, Judy ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Judy Chu Date: Sat, Jan 15, 2022 Subject: It's now or never. Dear John, On Thursday, my colleagues in the House and I passed the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act. This is the fourth voting rights bill we’ve passed this year because we won’t stop working until President Biden has a bill on his desk, ready to sign. But now, it's clearer than ever that the only way to make that happen is to end the filibuster. From spreading disinformation about the results of the 2020 election and distrust in the system to gerrymandering Congressional maps to enacting voter suppression laws in Republican-controlled legislatures across the country, Republican leaders are trying to rig our system and threaten the future of our democracy. We have an obligation to do everything we can -- including ending the filibuster -- to stop them. It's now or never. Can I count on you to chip in now so I can continue to fight for voting rights to protect our democracy and our future? Donate $250 Donate $100 Donate $50 Donate another amount These radical measures especially target working class communities and communities of color -- and they’re using the same arguments they used to oppose the original Voting Rights Act. We can’t go backward. I’m committed to fighting for the voice of every American -- and especially in communities that are too often silenced or ignored. We have the opportunity to protect our democracy, and I’m ready to take it. Are you with me? In solidarity, Judy Judy Chu | AMB Consulting, 1531 Purdue Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90025 Unsubscribe
