Challenge and Opportunity for Predominantly White Churches

The demographic makeup of localities across the U.S. is rapidly diversifying. Some predominantly white congregations perceive this as a challenge or even a threat. But Lovett H. Weems Jr. suggests it can be an opportunity for them to make a positive difference as “hosts for Christ” welcoming newcomers to their communities. Connecting Lent and Antiracism

Faithful Lent: Connecting the Practices of Lent and Anti-racism is a new Lenten resource from the United Methodist General Commission on Race and Religion for congregations to use in a small group setting. The purpose of this study is to make explicit connections between the traditions of Lent and the work of anti-racism without forcing either one to be what they are not. This study has been created with the faith-filled assumption that when we take seriously our Lenten traditions and what is necessary for the work of anti-racism, we find the two complement each other, not compete.
Please note the following pricing based on church size:

  • 1-100 members: $75
  • 101-200 members: $125
  • 201+ members: $175
