It's Kara's Birthday today! A lot of you know Kara personally, but I wanted to take a minute of your day to tell you my very favorite thing about our Birthday girl.
As someone who has worked in politics for years, Kara is one of the most tenacious people I've ever had the chance to meet. I've spent countless hours reading through her bio and legislative accomplishments and, of course, talking with her in the car and on the phone – I am her campaign manager, after all.
One thing that's hard to convey in an email is just how driven and unstoppable Kara truly is.
To pull out one example from dozens: When Kara was still a senior in college, she found out she was pregnant with her oldest daughter. As a single mom and student, she relied on waitressing tips and food stamps to get by. Even though things were tough, she still chose to go back to school to get her master's in social work in hopes of helping others.
28 years later, Kara still has that same tenacity and drive to do her absolute best. It's just who Kara is: a proven leader who has faced some of life's toughest challenges and refused to give up.
