Friends,
One year ago today, as President Biden took the oath of office, I reaffirmed my pledge to address the most pressing issues of our nation and focus my efforts toward achieving a new promise of civility, unity, and dignity for all individuals.
Since then, Democrats in the House, Senate, and the White House have worked tirelessly to combat the ongoing pandemic and create an economy that works for everyone. One year later, I’m grateful for all that we have accomplished so far together.
In just one year, Democrats have helped create 6.4 million jobs and lowered the unemployment rate to less than 4%. In the middle of the worst health crisis this nation has ever seen, 75% of the country has now been vaccinated against COVID-19. And after severe disruption to our educational classrooms, 95% of American schools are now open for instruction.
Democrats also passed multiple legislative packages to address long-standing issues across the country. The bipartisan infrastructure law, for example, is bringing much-needed investments to our roads, bridges, water systems, and broadband infrastructure. Meanwhile, the American Rescue Plan has provided essential funding for vaccine clinics, for families through the expanded Child Tax Credit, and for small businesses hit hard by the pandemic.
Team, I’m proud of the work Democrats have accomplished in the past year. But there is much more work to be done.
Republicans have their sights set on taking the House in the midterm elections this November, threatening to reverse and undermine the progress we have made towards economic recovery this year.
We’ve come a long way already, team, but history has proven that progress does not happen overnight. I’m doing everything I can to serve this district well, earn reelection, and protect our Democratic House Majority so we can build and expand upon this work for years to come. Are you with me?
Thank you,
