My thoughts on the repeal of the Muslim ban.

John,

A year ago today, Joe Biden became the 46th President of the United States. When he entered the Oval Office, the very first thing he did was repeal Trump's cruel, bigoted Muslim Ban. That didn't happen by accident, it happened because NIAC Action and our coalition partners worked tirelessly to make it a reality.

The Muslim Ban was a disgrace and will forever be a stain on America’s history. People protested at airports across the country, and NIAC Action was on the frontlines. Every single day after that horrendous policy was enacted, we fought it — in courts, in Congress, and at the ballot box. We shared hundreds of stories about how the ban separated families. Ultimately, we held President Biden to his promise because of your unwavering support. But one year has passed, and many of the families and individuals impacted by the ban have yet to see relief.

We need to remind President Biden that it’s not enough to just reverse the ban. His administration must take concrete steps to address the harm that Trump’s ban inflicted on the over 41,000 people denied visas. This is going to take a lot of work–from strengthening our coalition work to pressuring the Biden administration, to leveraging our Congressional champions to fight for our communities. But in order to see success, it's crucial that NIAC Action has funding to continue this important work.

So John, can you contribute $22 or more today to support NIAC Action's efforts to advocate for equitable immigration?

The Biden Administration repealing the ban was only the first step. From here, we need the Biden Administration to honor their promises by aiding the families impacted, streamlining the immigration process for individuals from the countries impacted, and putting strongholds in place to prevent this from happening again.

Today, I am reminded of how powerful our community is. Thank you.
