A Vermont town saves a beloved mountain
[link removed]
When West Windsor's ski mountain-a primary source of the
town's recreation and revenue-closed down, a group of
locals united behind a wild idea to save it: they'd buy it. With
The Trust for Public Land's help, this small Vermont community
preserved Mount Ascutney. Managed by a local organization, the
mountain remains a destination for recreationists. An upcoming
expansion, the West Windsor Town Forest, will preserve more trails and
natural habitats.

Tell Congress to keep public lands in public hands
[link removed]
With Congress back in session, we need to be sure that our elected
officials listen to us and not the private interests that seek to
permanently scar our shared lands for a temporary profit. Please help
show widespread support for public lands by telling your members of
Congress that you want to protect public lands from exploitation.

Preserving a New England gem

A vital link in the East Coast's most popular cross-country ski trail
system, the East Pasture Trail is threatened by timber logging. We're
working closely with our partners at the Jackson Ski Touring
Foundation and others in the region to preserve this recreation area
by spring 2022.

Opening doors to the outdoors for 80,000 Californians
[link removed]
A third of Californians currently don't have access to a park within a
10-minute walk of home. Thanks to new funding through Proposition 68,
over $38 million will help The Trust for Public Land reach 80,000
Californians with quality parks and nearby green spaces-meaning
a greener, healthier, more equitable future for all Californians.

Why Outside Matters
Being outside keeps you grounded, a way to unplug from stress. It's
the last connection we have to nature.

Each month, we feature a quote from a The Trust for Public Land staff
member, volunteer, or supporter about the power of the outdoors. Share
why you're thankful for the outdoors for a chance to be featured in a
future newsletter.
