John,
48 Democratic senators voted last night to reform the filibuster in order to pass legislation to protect our democracy and strengthen the right to vote.
The other two Democratic senators sided with Republicans to stand in the way.
Whether it's one year from now, five years from now, or generations from now, history will judge Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin harshly.
They joined with a Republican minority in the Senate, representing an even smaller minority of the nation's population, to abandon their constituents. All in the name of upholding a racist Senate rule that has been employed for centuries to deny voting rights and undermine democracy.
Last night showed us once more how a Democratic majority alone is not sufficient.
That's why WFP organizers are on the ground in battleground states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, mobilizing volunteers and preparing to turn out voters for working families champions in Republican-held seats. And it's why we'll be defending vulnerable incumbent progressive champions who need our help too.
If we come together, we have a real chance to send a majority to the Senate who will stand with working people — and send a message to those senators who don't.

While this week's debate in the Senate shows us how much farther we have to go in the fight for a multiracial democracy, it also shows us how far we've come.
96% of the Senate Democratic caucus voted last night to say that they believe protecting democracy and ensuring the right to vote is more important than preserving the filibuster.
That's a number that would have been unthinkable even a few months ago in an institution where changes usually happen at a glacial pace. It would never have happened without people like you making your voices heard. And it is far from the final chapter in this story.
The United States Senate has already become a different place with WFP champions like Senator Reverend Warnock providing moral clarity and leadership.
Imagine what it would look like with a Senator Mandela Barnes (WI), a Senator Malcolm Kenyatta (PA), a Senator Charles Booker (KY), and more.
Electing a Democratic majority alone is clearly not enough. Contribute $5 or any amount toward our Working Families Majority Fund to elect candidates who will truly represent working people in 2022.
In solidarity,
Working Families Party
P.S. It's clearer now than ever that we need WFP champions fighting for us in the Senate. Can you join us for a virtual phone and text bank this Tuesday, January 25 from 6-8pm ET as we identify supporters and persuade voters in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin to support Malcolm Kenyatta and Mandela Barnes?
