Race + Power Weekly

As we begin 2022, it makes sense to stop and notice that a shift is happening in racial justice work. At NPQ, we will be focusing this year on building pro-Black organizations. Our upcoming Spring magazine issue will feature the latest thinking on this. We’d like to introduce the topic here with a feature by Cyndi Suarez on the schism between leaders at the edge of this work and the funders who claim to be. Another feature from our current Winter magazine, our first on health justice, looks at how Black queer spaces define thriving. From our archives, emerging pro-Black farming policy and a call to funders to support Black-led nonprofits by funding capacity building and infrastructure. Listen to what Black people say they need.

To Support Black-led Nonprofits, Fund Us for Capacity Building & Infrastructure

We have struggled due to lack of funding—funding for capacity building to operate at our potential. It didn’t reach the majority of our community members and nonprofits that are on the ground doing this work in real time. Read more…
