I’m sure you’re as frustrated as I am that the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act failed in the Senate last night. But we can’t let this setback get in the way of getting things done. I’m ready to turn the page and focus on what can happen next, and I am hoping you’ll join me.

Because there’s some good news: there's a bipartisan path forward. There are Republican senators who want to protect our elections, and Democrats who are ready to work with them. We’re in touch with many key Senate offices, and have been working with some of our allies on a slate of ideas that we think can appeal to both sides.

Those ideas include: provisions that strengthen our elections, protect election workers, ensure that every vote is fairly counted, and clarify the process for counting Electoral College votes in Congress. All of the ideas are rooted in strong bipartisanship, and are supported by an overwhelming majority of voters across the political spectrum.

But we can only turn these ideas into laws if we don’t lose momentum. That’s why your voice is so critical at this moment.
