Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan put the whistleblower on notice Thursday that they will be getting a subpoena to testify in a public hearing.
Fox News’ Tucker Carlson revealed on Thursday that Marie Yovanovitch, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, sent a personal email through a private channel to a Democratic congressional staffer, which contradicted her deposition before Congress in October.
In other words, she committed perjury.
Carlson said, “This show has obtained exclusively for that Democratic staffer with the House Foreign Affairs Committee a communication sent by private email to the former American ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, who is, you know, a key player in the Democrat’s impeachment probe and was recalled from her post in Ukraine by President Trump in May 2019 following allegations of serious partisanship and political bias.”
In her testimony, Yovanovitch told Lee Zeldin (R-NY) that there was zero correspondence between herself and Laura Carey, the Democrat staffer who sent the email. Yovanovitch testified she never replied to an August 14 email from Carey.
The email clearly shows the House Foreign Affairs Committee (led by Schiff) contacted Yovanovitch, through the Carey email, about a month before the inquiry became public, to discuss “a few pieces of information with you, some of which are quite delicate and time sensitive.”
Why this matters: Yovanovitch testified she did not respond to the email from Carey. That appears to be a lie.
As Tucker said in his report: “In fact, it turns out she did respond. She said she ‘looked forward to chatting with [the Democratic staffer].”
This tweet by Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin reminds us that Yovanovitch’s testimony was given under oath.
Zeldin told Fox News on Thursday: “I would highly suspect that this Democratic staffer’s work was connected in some way to the whistleblower’s effort, which has evolved into this impeachment charade. We do know that the whistleblower was in contact with [House Intelligence Committee Chairman] Adam Schiff’s team before the whistleblower had even hired an attorney or filed a whistleblower complaint even though Schiff had lied to the public originally claiming that there was no contact.”
“Additionally, while the contents of the email from this staffer to Ambassador Yovanovitch clearly state what the conversation would be regarding Yovanovitch, when I asked her specifically what the staffer was looking to speak about, did not provide these details.”
