This is huge, friend: President Biden recently announced his support for reforming the filibuster to finally pass crucial voting rights legislation through the Senate.

But here's the problem: It will take 50 votes to get rid of this archaic rule, which means any one senator can stand in the way of progress. That's why Democrats must expand our Senate majority – and my race in Florida can virtually guarantee we do. 

As GOP lawmakers across the country have introduced hundreds of voter suppression bills, legislation to uphold and expand the right to vote could not be more important. I voted to protect voting rights in the House. And when I'm in the Senate, I'll fight like hell again to make sure voting rights legislation passes, because in the words of my dear friend, the late Rep. John Lewis, "Democracy is not a state. It is an act, and each generation must do its part." 

On Jan. 6, we remembered an attack on our democracy – and it's clear our nation is at an inflection point. We need to do our part now and protect the right to vote.
