Bob Stefanowski is too extreme for Connecticut. He has an ‘A’ rating from the NRA and opposed common sense legislation passed in the wake of Sandy Hook.
When it comes to working families, he opposes having a minimum wage altogether, and when asked to grade Donald Trump as President, he gave him an ‘A’ and called Trump’s endorsement of his candidacy ‘pretty cool.’
Governor Lamont and Connecticut Democrats have accomplished so much over the past several years — fixing the state budget, enacting the most robust paid family and medical leave program in the country, raising the minimum wage to $15/hour, supporting small businesses, building up a record rainy day fund — all without tax increases.
Stefanowski’s economic plan for our state would have devastated schools, rolled back health care, and laid off health care workers. Donate now to help us mobilize Democrats across Connecticut this year to stop Stefanowski’s extreme agenda.
If you don’t remember Stefanowski’s disastrous 2018 campaign, here are some other facts about Bob:
- Bob Stefanowski was a top executive at a payday loan company, which charged low-income consumers interest rates so high that the practice is illegal in Connecticut. His business was specifically designed to trap economically vulnerable people in a vicious cycle of debt and poverty — so that he could profit.
- Bob Stefanowski’s sole economic plan for our state — to eliminate the income tax — was a scheme to benefit the very top at the expense of the middle class. It would have given just the wealthiest 400 families in Connecticut, just 0.025% of the state, more than $1.3 billion in tax breaks annually, while slashing dollars for schools, rolling back health care, and cutting basic services.
- Because Stefanowski wanted to cut town aid altogether, his economic plan would raise property taxes in all 169 Connecticut towns — in some cases, local taxes would more than double.
- In 2018, when asked about his views on school immunizations and vaccinations for diseases like polio and the measles, he immediately adopted anti-vaccine talking points.
- Bob Stefanowski has said the Affordable Care Act didn’t help Connecticut, even though the ACA has helped deliver health coverage to people across our state who need it most. In many cases, ACA plans have zero premiums, thanks to state and federal Democrats.
- And when asked about climate change, he said that he didn’t “understand the science of it” and that it was a federal issue, even though it’s one of the most urgent issues facing our state.
Governor Lamont has brought us strong, steady leadership at a time when Connecticut needs it most. He’s done it by bringing people together, and that’s exactly how we will move forward — together. Donate now to join this fight.
