Help ASNV contact state Senators in key committees during the current session of the General Assembly

January 19, 2022

** Help Us Promote Conservation Policies in the 2022 General Assembly

Virginia State Capitol

We’re looking for volunteers to help ASNV contact state Senators in key committees during the current session of the state legislature, called the General Assembly. It convened on January 12, 2022, and will run for 60 days. Two important committees—Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources, and Local Government—will consider critical environmental and natural resource issues, and Senators representing ASNV members are on both committees. Elected officials need to hear from their constituents and are often responsive to constituents’ concerns.

Are you in one of the following Virginia Senate districts?

13: Sen. John J. Bell
17: Sen. Bryce E. Reeves
28: Sen. Richard H. Stuart
29: Sen. Jeremy S. McPike
31: Sen. Barbara A. Favola
32: Sen. Janet D. Howell
34: Sen. J. Chapman Petersen
37: Sen. David W. Marsden

If you are not sure, visit Who’s My Legislator? ([link removed]) If you are in one of those districts and can help us out, let us know by contacting us through the website below.

Contacting State Legislators

We may be asking for your help several times in the next two months. When we do, we will provide clear talking points and straightforward messages that you can include in emails or letters or, better yet, put in your own words. We also will be available to answer your questions and coach you, if you wish. Advocacy is both a fundamental right and a responsibility in our democratic form of government, in our view.

Natural resource advocates scored some significant conservation gains in the 2021 General Assembly. The conservation community has a major challenge this year to protect those gains and to defeat some anticipated anti-environment bills. Please let us know today if you can help and provide the name of your senator. Contact our advocacy committee via our website here ([link removed]) .
