Last week we saw one of the most serious developments surrounding the January 6th investigation when the Department of Justice charged 11 people involved with seditious conspiracy.

What does this mean? Well, in short, it means that those charged are accused of an organized assault to prevent the swearing-in of President Biden that ended in the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.

How does this change the game? It is the clearest sign that prosecutors consider the attack not just as a “protest” as so many on the right swear by, but as a thought out organized predetermined plan to attack our democracy and prevent the peaceful transfer of power.

It is an encouraging sign for the January 6 Committee as their investigation continues to move forward. Also last week, we learned that Republican House Minority Leader, and long-time Trump loyalist, Kevin McCarthy will NOT cooperate with the investigation, joining a long list of Trump enablers that refuse to face the truth of what occurred on January 6th, 2021.

No surprises there. This is typical of Trump and his minions. When Trump was pressed last week by NPR on his baseless claims of election fraud, he simply ended the interview, and refused to be held accountable for his assault on American democracy.

If Republicans take back the House this year, they will shut down the committee and there will never be any accountability for those responsible. We must step up our efforts, protect all our frontline members and keep the House. Will you join us today and defend our majority?
