Team,
I just stepped off the Senate floor, where I delivered a speech on voting rights pushing my colleagues to pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.
Here’s the hard truth I spoke about: Republican senators are weaponizing the filibuster to stop us from passing critical voting rights legislation with a simple majority.
All the while, Republican-led state legislatures across the country are passing laws that restrict the right to vote, and they negatively impact Black, Brown, and Indigenous voters the most.
For example, Texas’ discriminatory voting law, SB1, limits the assistance available to people whose first language is not English. In South Dakota and Arizona, voting centers and polling places on Tribal lands have been shuttered and stripped of funding, requiring hours of travel for Native Americans to make their voices heard.
These voter suppression efforts weaken our democracy, are discriminatory, and are denying the right to vote to American citizens — all so one political party can gain power.
The window of time for us to act before the next election is closing quickly. So I need your help. Will you pitch in $10 or more to power our work to overcome Republican voter suppression efforts, abolish the filibuster, and fight for voting rights for all Americans?

Every single person eligible to vote should be able to make their voices heard, and we can’t let the filibuster stand in the way of progress. Thank you for supporting this important work.
Con gratitud,
Ben Ray
