Hi, brace yourself for the latest political shenanigans I’m going to tell you about.

Some of our state lawmakers are mounting a huge power grab by pushing a bill that would give the legislature the power to veto popular initiatives like Pennsylvania joining the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).

It sounds wonky, but it would give our ultra-conservative legislature nearly complete control over state government.

What’s worse is that this bill includes several other constitutional amendments that would create more barriers for people to vote.

Like most regressive policies, it will be people of color, young people, and low-income people whose voices will get left out if these attacks on our democracy aren’t stopped. A final vote could happen at any time, and we need to show our senators that a misguided “yes” vote will be a future regret when the same people they tried to silence will use their voices to vote them out of office this November.

Your voice will be critical these next few days, friend. Please use it to urge your senator to protect our democracy by voting against SB 106. [[link removed]]

The Governor's veto pen is often the only safeguard to prevent devastating rollbacks to environmental protections and attacks on voting rights.

Instead of eliminating a fundamental check-and-balance, senators should start to address the real problems Pennsylvania faces. They are sitting on $7 billion that could be spent preparing our towns for storms and floods and keeping schools open, but instead they’re obsessed with their own elections and rigging the game in their favor.

SB 106 is about keeping power, not helping people. We must fight back by telling our lawmakers to get their priorities straight. We deserve a legislature that works for all of us.

Send a message to your Senator right now urging them to vote NO on SB 106 [[link removed]]

Thanks for being in our corner.
