Tell EPA to reduce methane emissions.

Dear John,

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, and in the short term, one ton of methane in our atmosphere traps many times the heat that one ton of carbon dioxide does. Slashing methane emissions is crucial to limiting the devastating impacts of climate change in the coming decades.
Tell EPA to finalize strong standards to reduce methane emissions. ([link removed])

Right now, the oil and natural gas industry—from extraction to processing to transport—is a major source of methane emissions because equipment leaks can easily allow methane, the very product the gas industry is aimed at capturing and selling, to escape into the atmosphere. The gas industry also sometimes “vents” (lets escape into the atmosphere) and flares (burns) methane that could otherwise be captured, processed, and sold.

The Biden Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a new set of regulations for the oil and gas industry that would curb climate-changing methane emissions. EPA’s proposal is an important step in the right direction, but more can be done to limit emissions. Let EPA know that they must do more to protect communities living with the impacts of oil and gas and live up to President Biden’s climate goals. ([link removed])

Thank you for speaking up.
