Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Week in Review
"For the week ending November 8, 2019"
On *Monday,*Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was joined by Lt. Governor Jon Husted [ [link removed] ], who started his own life in foster care before being adopted, in announcing the formation of the Children Services Transformation Advisory Council. The council will review the state of Ohios foster care system and develop recommendations to improve the experience of children and families. The advisory council was created to build on the historic investments included in the State Operating Budget providing more opportunities for families and children.

On *Tuesday*,Governor DeWine held a roundtable discussion on lead at Columbus Public Health. The roundtable featured local organizations that are combating lead exposure through high-quality early childhood education, safe and affordable housing, and public health interventions.
The roundtable event is helping to inform the work ofthe Governor's Lead Advisory Committee [ [link removed] ], which was formed by Governor DeWine on September 13, 2019 and includes professionals from public health, medicine, housing, construction trades, and state and local governments.

On *Wednesday*, Governor Mike DeWine was joined by several members of the General Assembly to sign House Bill 189, also known as Tyler's Law. The law will strengthen amusement ride operation and safety.

On *Thursday*,Governor DeWine attended the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. There were20 Ohio veterans inducted [ [link removed] ] into this year's Hall of Fame Class.
Those selected for induction were Ohio veterans who have honorably served their country through military service, and have continued to serve, and inspire fellow Ohioans with their deeds, and accomplishments throughout their lifetime.

Also on*Thursday,*Lt. Governor Husted, joined by Governors Office of Appalachia Director John Carey, toured Southeast Ohio where the Lt. Governor visited the Tri-County Career Center [ [link removed] ] for their Apprenticeship Day event.
He also offered the keynote address for the Impact Ohio Southeast Regional Conference [ [link removed] ] at the Ohio University Inn where he discussed how the region can work together, pool their resources, and raise up pockets of prosperity that can spread throughout the counties.
The Lt. Governor ended the day at the University of Rio Grande [ [link removed] ] where he announced a rural broadband expansion project in partnership with the federal government. Lt. Governor Husteds InnovateOhio initiative is currently drafting a statewide broadband strategy.

On *Friday*, Lt. Governor Husted hosted a roundtable with veterans who are currently engaged in apprenticeship programs in Ohio. During the event, the Lt. Governor heard first-hand accounts of how the veterans have transitioned from service to civilian life in Ohio as well as their experiences in entering apprenticeship programs and fine-tuning their skills for the next step in their careers. The event was held in the Statehouse on the eve of both Veterans Day weekend as well as National Apprenticeship Week.
