I wanted to share the news with you: We won our lawsuit against “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli for violating antitrust laws to jack up the price of life-saving medication.
When Shkreli was CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals — later known as Vyera — the company jacked up the price of life-saving medication Daraprim from $13.50 to $750 per pill. The medicine treats a rare parasitic disease that strikes pregnant women, cancer patients, and AIDS patients.
Shkreli fed his greed without regard for the lives he put at risk. And now, he will be held accountable.
The court has banned Shkreli from the pharmaceutical industry for life and ordered him to pay back the $65 million in profits he made illegally. This is on top of the $40 million settlement my team helped secure last year against the company itself for its role in protecting the monopolistic pricing of Daraprim.
Folks , the rich and powerful don’t get to play by their own set of rules. Drug prices are already too high. Drug companies and executives should take note: if you illegally raise drug prices for your own financial gain, I will hold you accountable.
My office will continue standing up to the powerful, in addition to fighting to protect the health and the wallets of the people of North Carolina. That’s a promise. If you support our work, add your name here → [[link removed]]

This is an important win in our fight to make sure North Carolinians can get affordable, life-saving medication. And I hope it sends a message that similar conduct will not be tolerated.
Fighting for you,
Josh
