We need to act. Sign the petition >>

Voting is a sacred right and the filibuster is an outdated rule. To uphold our democracy, we must always protect rights before rules.

President Biden agrees — last week, he spoke out in support of changing the Senate rules so we can act with urgency and pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.

I’ve been a vocal supporter of abolishing the filibuster for a while now. It’s more important than ever that we finally eliminate Republicans’ tool of obstruction and protect the right to vote.

Join me in calling on my colleagues in the Senate to change the filibuster rules and support the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act. You can add your name to our petition by clicking here:

Senate Democrats earned 45 million more votes than Senate Republicans. Yet Republicans are abusing the filibuster to block voting rights legislation that most Senators support. All so Republicans can keep up their rampant voter suppression efforts in the states.

Republican-controlled legislatures in at least 19 states passed 34 laws to limit the right to vote last year. Make no mistake: This is a direct attempt to override the will of the American people.

The Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act will protect and expand the right to vote so that every American has the opportunity to make their voice heard in our safe and free election process.

It would set a national standard for voting rights and prevent states from enacting racist voter suppression laws. It would also restore key measures of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and address voting barriers Tribal communities face.

Will you add your name next to mine to demand the Senate changes the filibuster rules so we can pass this critical voting rights legislation immediately?

Thank you for making your voice heard, so that we can make sure everyone’s voice is heard in the voting process.
