News from Representative Allred

January 19, 2022

Dear Friend,

I have some great news to share. As part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that I recently helped pass and President Biden signed into law, $107 million is headed to Texas to repair our local bridges this year. Texas is also set to receive more than $537 million to help replace and repair local bridges over the next five years. The bipartisan infrastructure law will not only update our crumbling infrastructure, but create good jobs and grow our local economy along the way.

According to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, about 30 bridges in the 32nd District alone were deemed structurally deficient. The funds will repair or rebuild these and more than 818 other bridges found to be in poor condition across our state. This long overdue investment in our infrastructure is essential to ensuring the safety of North Texas drivers, first responders and businesses who rely on bridges to move commerce.

As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I have been working with my colleagues in both parties to bring the bipartisan infrastructure plan across the finish line. I hosted US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg in Dallas earlier this year to show him how beneficial infrastructure funding could be to North Texas and I am eager to see these critical investments at work in our region.

I was born and raised in North Texas and am proud to deliver the first round of critical funds that will bolster our infrastructure for years to come. I will continue to find common ground with my colleagues from both parties in Congress to deliver for North Texas families and businesses.

Sincerely,
