Abortion rights at risk in Florida [link removed] [[link removed]]Dear Friend,
It’s no exaggeration when I say this year we’ll face the toughest fight for reproductive freedom in Florida yet. I spent 24 years as the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida, and I’ve never been more worried about the future of abortion rights in our state.
Last year, with the help of Democratic pro-choice women legislators, we were able to fend off the Republicans’ most brazen attack on abortion access since the passage of Roe v. Wade .
Now, our federal protections are hanging on by a thread and once again, Florida legislators are launching an all out attack on abortion rights. Last week, HB 5 — a ban on abortion after 15 weeks, even in cases of rape and incest — was introduced in the Florida House. This time around, we may not have the protections of Roe v. Wade to fall back on.
Ruth’s List is committed to electing Democratic pro-choice women across Florida who will fight to protect abortion rights at the state level. With the actions of Republican legislatures around the country and the Supreme Court posing such a large threat, we must act now.
Can you pledge your support today and become a monthly donor to help defend reproductive rights in Florida? [[link removed]]
