Between the 2020 presidential election and the insurrection on January 6th, 2021, Facebook allowed at least 10,000 daily posts with false information about the election. Posts that called for executions or violence against political officials and images that showed gallows were spread far and wide across the most popular social platform on the planet.

Facebook has refused both external and internal investigations about their role in the Jan. 6 insurrection, so we’ve had to learn this from outside reporting. As our lives have increasingly moved online, we can’t allow actors like Facebook to have free reign.

HOLD FACEBOOK ACCOUNTABLE [[link removed]]Facebook has repeatedly shown that they are willing to put profits over people and refuse to make the necessary changes to remove mass efforts to flame violence on the platform.

These are challenging problems, but we have to work together to find the solution. That won’t happen when Facebook refuses to cooperate. If they won’t make the necessary changes, Congress needs to hold them accountable.
