That old Reagan saying, "We're from the government and we're here to help" has rung true again. Remember when the government forced everyone "non-essential" to stop working and stay home and promised to pay them well for doing so?

Anyone who understands economics and human nature knew that giving people more money to stay home than to work was a recipe for workforce issues and massive inflation.

So here we are with a lagging workforce, prices rising by the day, and now...the government wants that unemployment money back.

Keep in mind, when the unemployment benefits were paid out, they went to working people with no expectation of repaying the money. They were using it to survive. (Obviously there were plenty who took advantage, not returning to work because they made triple the amount staying home.)
