Stand Up and Hold China Accountable for Their Crimes Against Humanity and the Uyghurs – After Chamath Palihapitiya said no one cares about China’s treatment of the Uyghurs and with the Olympics coming up, Americans and the global community need to stand up to the Chinese Communist Party, and also ensure some corporate accountability for bowing to Chinese pressure. China should never have been selected to host the upcoming Winter Olympics. These upcoming months provide opportunities to shed light on China's poor human rights track record. China should face consequences for its actions, including follow-on unilateral and multilateral sanctions for their exploitation of the Uyghurs, among other rights abuses. The US should step up where it can to provide safe haven to those fleeing the CCP's persecution by extending Priority-2 refugee status to Uyghurs and Hong Kongers. Indirect Costs: How Taxpayers Subsidize University Nonsense – Currently, taxpayers are forced to subsidize the agenda of the political left through funding its research agendas and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) staff on university campuses. The Left has used the indirect cost reimbursement system to capture universities for its purposes. Federal grant-awarding agencies should not pay an indirect rate that is higher than the lowest rate that is accepted from private organizations, such as foundations and businesses. This would eliminate cross-subsidies and dramatically reduce universities’ ability to install more DEI staff. Universities must be held accountable—and the exploitation of taxpayers must end. 18 More Federal Agencies Eye Making Vaccine Religious-Objector Lists – This week, we revealed that an obscure federal agency plans to keep lists of the “personal religious information” employees who had religious objections to the federal employee vaccine mandate. As it turns out, the little-known Pre-trial Services Agency for the District of Columbia isn’t the only federal agency involved. As we feared, a whole-of-government effort looks to be underway. A little digging at the Federal Register revealed that there are at least 19 total federal agencies—including five cabinet level agencies—that have created or proposed to create these tracking lists for religious-exemption requests from their employees.
