Friend -
As we continue to reflect on last year, it is easy to get caught in the anger and frustration that gets under our skin. But in all honesty I am just a softy. A Wonderful Life or a Charlie Brown Christmas is always on some time in December.
As I get revved up for the rollercoaster of this year, I want to give thanks for your help and the inspiration of all the great people out there doing good. Here are the 12 things I am thankful for.
- The people of Georgia who saved the Senate and inspired a nation.
- Thank you to the Black Lives Matter Movement for demanding we not ignore the truth.
- Thank you Kamala Harris and the Biden Administration for prioritizing some of the most important, albeit not always popular, COVID responses.
- Being an Asian guy of science I thank the health research community for increasing protection and reducing deaths in the midst of this pandemic.
- Thank you to all the frontline workers who have saved lives and protected our families.
- Thank you to all the poets, artists, musicians, and talented creators who have kept us laughing, crying, and emotionally recharged this year.
- Thanks to all the athletes who braved the dangers of COVID to help us be inspired and entertained.
- Thanks to all the school teachers and school support staff who are working to save the education of our scarred kids battling the isolation of COVID.
- Thank you to the San Francisco State University Asian American Studies department for helping start the Stop AAPI Hate movement.
- Thank you Bee Nguyen and Stacey Abrams for making GA a shining example of what we can do and to inspire us with your courage.
- Thanks to my family for keeping connected and supportive to me and my 101 year old dad.
- And thank you all for your continued support, encouragement, and debate. It always makes us better.
