Yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, friend.

Martin Luther King Jr. made it his life's mission to ensure everyone had the right to vote – regardless of the color of their skin.

But today – and for the past year or more – Republicans have been desperately trying to install "Jim Crow 2.0" by introducing over 440 voter suppression bills in 49 state legislatures across the country.

Let's not mince words here, friend. These voter restriction bills are directly aimed at reducing the turnout of voters of color. And in states like Florida, Georgia, Texas and many more – these bogus, racist laws have passed.

In the face of these attacks on our democracy, we can't give up on Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream. That's why we're asking 5,000 people to sign the petition demanding lawmakers protect the right to vote – but we still need 2,885 more signatures, friend.
