John, throughout his time in Washington, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has told Iowans time and again that he supports term limits for members of Congress. But it's been 47 years, nearly a half century, since Iowa first sent him there. After first serving three terms in the House, he moved on to the Senate where he is now running for an eighth consecutive term.

Forty-seven years is too damn long – no matter who you are. That's why you have my word on this: If I'm elected as Iowa's next senator, I will term-limit myself and serve no more than two terms. Period.

I mean what I say. I'll get the job done, and quite frankly, I don't need – nor do I want! – 47 years in Washington to do it. In fact, there's no better example of why we need term limits than Sen. Grassley himself. After all his years in Congress, Sen. Grassley has left Iowa's working families behind. He's allowed protections for workers and unions to go on the chopping block. He's stood in lockstep with his party as they launched a coordinated attack on voting rights.

Making life better for those in your community isn't about the number of years you can rack up – or in Sen. Grassley's case, the fancy house you can buy in Washington, D.C. It's about seeing work to be done and doing it. It's about dedication and willpower. It's about service.

If you're with me, if you believe it's time for Sen. Grassley to fix what's broken in Washington, then I need a massive display of grassroots action right now. Will you please make your voice heard by responding to my live poll?

Do you support term limits for members of Congress?
