[1]National Nurses United
In just a moment, I’m
going to ask you to sign up to get involved at a future organizing event
for Medicare for All. But first, I want to talk real quickly about the
huge rally we held in San Francisco last weekend and why it fills me with
so much hope.
As many of you know, several hundred nurses and activists showed up from
all over the state of California to put pressure on congressional leaders
and speak out against their inaction.
We marched. We listened to beautiful (and horrific) stories about our
broken health care system from various guest speakers and community
leaders. And we even held a die-in outside Speaker Pelosi’s office to
display the human cost of our health care system.
Support also poured in from every corner of the country. In the days that
followed our rally, we generated 5,500 petition signatures and more than
500 calls to Pelosi’s office, all with a simple message: take real
leadership on Medicare for All, and allow our bill — HR. 1384 — to move
forward in Congress.
Seeing such a display of solidarity and grassroots power gave us all a
huge boost of energy. Now we need to turn that energy into more direct
action, and grow our organizing strength in every state across the
country.
Will you sign up to attend a Medicare for All organizing event near
Washington? Getting out and connecting with your fellow supporters —
whether its at a canvass or textbank — is so crucial.

Knocking on doors, texting people, and having honest conversations about
our health care system are proven to be the most effective ways to grow
our movement.
When we’re able to cut through the noise — the lobbying, the multi-million
dollar TV ad buys, the doublespeak from politicians — and have
conversations with our neighbors, people listen. That’s why I’m reaching
out to ask you for help today:
[ [link removed] ]Attending an event in your community is such an important part of our
struggle for health care justice. All you need to do is sign up here, and
someone from our team will be in touch with all the instructions you need.
Our movement is committed, gritty, and filled with thousands of people
like you who are looking for the best way to help fix this broken health
care system. And when I attend rallies like the one we held last week, or
speak with our volunteers after their first-ever canvassing event, I know
that we can win.
In solidarity,
Jasmine Ruddy
