Friend,
When I see injustice around me, I call it out. That’s why I called out Governor Larry Hogan’s new dog-whistling crime policies.
He came after Baltimore and started pushing initiatives that direct half a BILLION dollars toward policies of mass incarceration that the evidence shows do not effectively improve public safety. That’s why last week I released a statement saying that Governor Hogan has had two terms to address violent crime, but chose to spend his time refusing to partner with local leaders, actively stripping vital resources away from communities, playing dog-whistle politics, and scapegoating Baltimore — a divisive approach that will not make us safer.
As governor, I would never play these political games or scapegoat communities for my own gain. Friend, Hogan’s actions make it clearer than ever that this November we cannot elect another Republican leader who is more focused on politics than the public good. That’s why I’m asking for your support today.
