In light of the hostage event that took place on Saturday at a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, here are resources that you may find helpful for yourself, your students and your families.  As terrifying as the event was, we saw the power in communities of all faiths joining together to support the people of Colleyville.  It's in these relationships that we're able to address hate and discrimination of all kinds.

In order to help you discuss the antisemitism that took place and all the feelings associated with this terrible incident, we have provided resources for schools, families and communities:
 

• Empowering Young People in the Aftermath of Hate:  A resource to address acts of hate and bias with suggested language for families and educators based on the grade level of the child.
• Helping Students Make Sense of News Stories About Bias and Injustice: General guidance for educators when current events about bias and injustice happen with suggestions for how to approach and frame the conversation.
• Antisemitism Today: This Table Talk is for families to discuss antisemitism and includes some information about Colleyville as well as other antisemitic incidents.
• Six Facts About Threats to the Jewish Community: A resource from our Center on Extremism with background information and examples.
• Echoes & Reflections Course On Contemporary Antisemitism (Gringlas Unit): The lessons in this unit (for Middle and High School students) increase their awareness that antisemitism did not end after the Holocaust and provides them with opportunities to learn about the persistence of antisemitism in its contemporary forms.

We are grateful for the peaceful resolution of this horrible incident.
