It’s not an exaggeration to say that the future of our democracy could very well hinge on whether or not we take action now to protect voting rights.

For the last year, the GOP has enacted horrifying voter suppression laws in states across the nation. Proponents of “The Big Lie” weren’t able to overturn an election, so they began trying to make it harder for people to vote. Then, Democrats introduced two bills to restore voting rights – but the filibuster is standing in their way.

That’s why Civic Action is calling on the Senate to carve out the filibuster and pass voting rights legislation. Will you sign our petition to save our democracy?

Republicans are using Trump’s lies about the Jan. 6 insurrection to pass voter suppression bills, and Democrats are dragging their feet on righting this egregious wrong.

Democrats say that they can’t pass voting rights legislation because of the filibuster, but they carved out the filibuster for the debt ceiling – and they can do it again to save our democracy.

We need the U.S. Senate to take action on voting rights now. It’s not only critical for the health of our democracy, but for making progress on every other issue we care about. We can’t create an economy for the middle class if the middle class can’t vote.

It’s 2022, and we’re running out of time to protect our democracy. Join Civic Action and groups across the country in calling on the Senate to pass voting rights legislation.
