Texas is ready for a Green New Deal, and we’re excited to do all we can to elect Greg Casar.

John,

We just announced our endorsement of Greg Casar in the Democratic primary for the 35th Congressional District in Texas (TX-35). This is our FIRST open seat endorsement of the 2022 campaign cycle!

Here’s why: While corrupt, wealthy politicians fled the deadly Texas freeze last year and continued to profit off of the destruction of communities across the state, Greg Casar was on the ground, organizing and delivering lifesaving aid for his constituents as an Austin City Council Member.

The momentum we see building among voters energized by climate disasters, mobilizing to elect a Green New Deal champion from their community is what Sunrise has worked for since its founding. Texas is ready for a Green New Deal, and we’re excited to do all we can to elect Greg.

We can only add more Green New Deal champions to Congress with your help: Join Sunrise today and donate directly to Greg Casar as he ramps up his people-powered campaign ahead of the Texas primary on March 1. We have a goal to raise 500 grassroots contributions for Greg.

Greg Casar proves that fighting the climate crisis in Texas is possible and popular. Greg is an unapologetic organizer, and young people are mobilizing in droves to elect this proven climate champion.

Greg has also fought day in and day out for working people — leading on humane immigration policy, labor rights, reproductive justice, civil rights, and more. In Austin, he successfully raised wages for thousands of workers, ended all arrests and fines for low-level marijuana possession, and closed tax loopholes for the wealthiest.

If we’re going to win the future we deserve, we must replace and reject candidates who cater to the fossil fuel corporations exacerbating the climate crisis. That starts with getting climate champions like Greg elected to Congress this year. Can Greg count on you to chip in $3, $10 — or whatever you can afford — today?

In solidarity,

Ellen, Sunrise
