Last week, the House passed a voting rights and election reform package that combined the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. This is a monumental step forward to protect every American’s right to vote and demand equal access to the ballot box.

But now, this election reform package has one last obstacle: passing in the Senate. This will be no small feat, with the future of the filibuster and defending voting rights all hanging in the balance. What happens in the next few hours or days will be critical to defending our democracy.
