Team,
Since the outset of the pandemic, more than 31,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported at ICE facilities, with an infection rate more than THREE TIMES as high as the overall US infection rate.
ICE has failed to implement a coordinated vaccination and education program, leaving detention centers to carry out inadequate makeshift policies. Up until July, some detention centers weren’t even offering vaccines.
It’s only a matter of time before Omicron spreads through ICE facilities.
This poses an even more urgent problem considering the population of immigrants in detention has increased by 45 percent under President Biden.
Detention and deportation are not the answer. Cruel agencies like ICE and CBP have always inflicted harm upon our communities, and even more so now as immigrant lives are put at high risk of infection in detention facilities during the pandemic.
United We Dream Action is fighting for a future free of ICE, CBP, and the fear of detention and deportation. But we need your help to fully realize it.
No one should have to live in constant fear of detention or deportation and risk the pandemic within a pandemic occurring within the walls of ICE’s detention centers. Please chip in $10 or more to fuel our fight for immigrant communities:
