Dear John,
Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who has been standing in the way of President Biden’s agenda since the day he was sworn in, went to the floor of the U.S. Senate last Thursday and dealt a potentially fatal blow to voting rights legislation.
This is outrageous, even for Sen. Sinema.
She had a choice between defending our democracy and the filibuster—a relic of Jim Crow—and she chose the filibuster. She’s quite simply siding with the Republicans who have been pushing Trump’s Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen in order to make it harder to vote.
I, for one, think that it’s time to start calling out Sen. Sinema back home, with her constituents.
Inequality Media Civic Action is working to hold Senator Sinema accountable for her corporate campaign contributions and outrageous opposition to voting rights with our millions of followers across social media. We’re going into overdrive to blast out videos, tweets, TikToks, and op-eds—and we need your support to make sure that Sinema’s constituents are flooded with these messages.
Can you rush an urgent donation to Inequality Media Civic Action and help back our rapid-response efforts to get out the truth about what’s at stake and hold Kyrsten Sinema accountable for blocking voting rights legislation? [[link removed]]
Make a donation [[link removed]]Donald Trump’s Big Lie about the 2020 election has fueled the biggest wave of attacks on voting rights since Jim Crow. In 2021 alone, 49 states introduced a total of 440 bills to restrict voting access, and 19 states passed 34 new laws that make it harder to vote.
These new laws will make lines longer at the polls, reduce the number of early voting days, and even make it a crime to hand out water to people waiting in line to vote. Worse yet, unless Democrats take action to protect voting rights nationwide, we will have even more restrictions put in place before the 2022 midterms.
So yesterday, President Biden went to Capitol Hill to make his case to Senate Democrats to reform the filibuster and pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
But before the president even had a chance to speak, Kyrsten Sinema went to the floor of the Senate to say that she would not, under any circumstances, let the majority rule and allow the bill to pass by reforming the filibuster.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had it up to here with Kyrsten Sinema. She represents a state that's been trending strongly blue for years. The state has a 7-4 Democratic congressional delegation, and it went to President Biden in 2020. And yet she’s standing with Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell.
So we’re launching a rapid-response effort across all our channels to make sure that voters in Arizona know the truth about Sen. Sinema. But as a nonprofit organization, we rely on donations from folks like you to continue spreading the truth.
Will you make a donation to fuel our efforts to hold Kyrsten Sinema accountable for blocking voting rights? [[link removed]]
