The Senate is set to vote on the Freedom to Vote Act very soon, and I am asking you to sign my petition to say you want the Senate to end the filibuster and pass this critical legislation on voting rights.

As cynical politicians work to undermine our constitutional right to vote, it has never been more important for action at the federal level to ensure every eligible voter in this country can make their voice heard in our elections.

Here in Wisconsin, we've seen voting rights and free and fair elections under attack. We've seen Ron Johnson call for a Republican takeover of our state's bipartisan Election Commission.

Enough is enough.

Sadly, this isn't just happening in Wisconsin. It's happening in virtually every state across the country.

But in order to pass legislation defending voting rights nationwide, the Senate must end the filibuster. That is why I need to ask:

Can you please sign my petition calling on the Senate to end the filibuster and pass the Freedom to Vote Act? This is important.

Here's some of what this legislation would do to protect voting rights:

- Declare Election Day as a federal holiday
- Ensure all voters have access to online, automatic, and same-day voter registration
- Guarantee at least 15 days of early voting
- Take on voter suppression tactics by expanding voting access in every state
- Allow anyone to vote by mail, and grant easy access to ballot drop off locations and online ballot tracking
- Restore voting access to formerly incarcerated people
- Help get dark money out of politics so that our democracy isn't sold out to the highest bidder
- Standardize laws around voting so that every eligible voter – regardless of which state they live in – can easily participate in elections

To those who say we must wait for a "more convenient season" to protect voting rights, we must say convenience is nothing when the enfranchisement of millions of Americans is at stake.

To those who say they agree with the goal but not the means, we must say no archaic procedure in the halls of Congress should overrule the fundamental right of the people to have our voices heard.

To those who say "wait" when they mean "quit," we must say the time to defend our democracy is, and has always been, now.

It is up to each and every one of us to preserve our democracy and our fundamental right to vote. And right now that means ending the filibuster and passing the Freedom to Vote Act.

Sign my petition – tell the Senate to end the filibuster and pass the Freedom to Vote Act. We must use any means necessary to defend voting rights.

Thank you for adding your name to join me in the fight to defend voting rights.

All my best,
