As we welcome 2022, The Trust for Public Land is celebrating the joys of the past year and looking forward to the future. Your commitment to equitable access to the outdoors made a lasting impact in 2021, as you will read in the Annual Report.
Thanks to donor support and friends like you, we built 16 new parks, improved access to trails in 22 communities, conserved 69,520 acres of new public land, and transformed 13 schoolyards into green spaces to learn and play. Our advocates’ efforts helped generate more than $732 million in new public funding for green spaces through 8 voter-approved ballot measures. Park advocates like you made their voices heard by joining us to send over 386,000 petitions urging elected officials to protect our parks and land. We raised over $76.3 million to connect people to parks, green schoolyards, trails, and the outdoors.
Thanks to nearly 50 years of donor support, more than 9.4 million people live within a 10-minute walk of a place created or protected by The Trust for Public Land, and countless more enjoy these sites each year.
I am so pleased to share the 2021 Annual Report with you. Our work is made possible by Trust for Public Land members, advocates, volunteers, and you. You are helping us connect everyone to the outdoors by building parks, greening asphalt schoolyards, protecting important cultural sites, and ensuring access to public lands and trails. Thank you for all you do.
