John, there are 17 judicial vacancies on the D.C. Superior Court and Court of Appeals. That’s about a quarter of all the judicial seats in those courts.

The unprecedented number of vacancies in D.C.’s courts is a threat to public safety and justice.

This crisis of justice is a direct result of the fact that Washington, D.C. is not a state. That’s why I support making D.C. our country’s 51st state and correcting this longstanding injustice. If you support D.C. statehood, John, please add your name today. [[link removed]]

The Senate has to approve all D.C. judicial nominations because the District is not a state, and D.C. is consistently at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the Senate’s priorities.

Sometimes D.C. judicial nominations will wait unaddressed for months and even years , and because of the vacancies, D.C. judges have to take on larger caseloads, which delays justice for D.C. residents.

And as the saying goes: Justice delayed is justice denied.

Washingtonians deserve the same level of justice and representation that Americans in every other part of the country receive. We need to build grassroots momentum for D.C. statehood -- will you sign on your support today? [[link removed]]
