Economic Justice in 2022

Dear John,

As we enter 2022, we are hopeful for transformative change. Unfortunately, women in this country still face serious barriers to achieving economic justice.

Women’s economic security is threatened in the best of times, but during a pandemic the situation is even more dire. For the last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, women have made up the majority of job losses and layoffs, and Black women, Latinas, and other minority demographic groups face even higher unemployment rates.

NOW supporters like you are the grassroots who’ve made so much progress in the last 55 years. Our community doesn’t accept the status quo, that “this is the way it’s always been.”

That’s why we need people like you with us to help level the playing field.

NOW is advocating for a wide range of economic justice issues affecting women. We’re calling for things like welfare reform, livable wages, and paid family leave that will truly transform the lives of women and their families with the support they so desperately need.

With Congress in gridlock and sweeping reforms held hostage by Mitch McConnell and other obstructionists, we need to raise our voices, and we need you with us today. This is a critical issue for women, and there’s no time to lose.
