Friend,

The Kansas Republican Party and our elected officials have been working hard to fight for Republican values at the city, state, and federal levels.

This week, Kansas' entire Republican congressional delegation ([link removed]) backed a Trump administration policy that would allow faith-based foster care and adoption services to continue to place children in homes with loving parents. This rule would allow organizations like Catholic Charities to continue the important work they do for foster children.

Congressmen Roger Marshall and Steve Watkins were also part of the group of Republicans who stormed Rep. Adam Schiff's secretive impeachment hearings ([link removed]) to demand transparency, accountability, and a fair investigation.

At the state level, Senate President Susan Wagle and Republican legislative leadership ([link removed]) demanded an investigation into the Supreme Court Selection Process.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt argued in front of the U.S. Supreme Court to protect Kansans ([link removed]) from identity theft by ensuring that states are allowed to prosecute illegal aliens using stolen identity documents.

Regards,
Shannon Golden
Executive Director - Kansas Republican Party

** Federal Update: Congressman Ron Estes
------------------------------------------------------------
Friend,

If you’ve been following the news the last several weeks, you know that the Democrats are going all-in on their impeachment bet. Without recognizing the irony, Democrats voted along strict party lines to authorize their sham impeachment witch hunt on Halloween. In the meantime, while Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are relentlessly trying to undo the will of the American people by impeaching their duly elected president, there is important legislative business being ignored. With just 16 legislative days left on the schedule until the end of the year, Democrats MUST end the partisan games and get back to work.

In less than three weeks, the government will once again run out of money and we will be facing yet another Democrat shutdown. Make no mistake, my Republican colleagues and I will continue to fight for responsible, pro-growth policies, but the Democrats have proven over and over that they are willing to shut down the government to try and force more spending and higher taxes.

Another end of year priority is finally passing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA. Pelosi knows it will pass the House with a strong bipartisan majority but is reluctant to give the President and the American people a major win going into an election year. Our farmers and manufacturers are counting on this modern, common sense trade agreement to expand opportunities with our two closest neighbors and biggest trade partners.

Additionally, I’ll continue to gather support for the Down Syndrome Discrimination by Abortion Prohibition Act I just introduced last week with Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma. Last month was Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and I believe it is as important as ever to continue protecting the most vulnerable among us, including those with Down syndrome. I know Kansans, and I know that we are deeply committed to Life. Even in the minority, I’ll continue to fight this fight because it’s the right thing to do, always.

As we move closer to the end of 2019, I hope you will enjoy this special time of year with your friends and family. We have so much to celebrate and be thankful for. And in 2020, we are going to need all of us working every day until November 5 to elect Republicans up and down the ballot. I’ve already been diligently working to ensure that we take back the House and, as a recently-named Trump campaign honorary state chair, that we re-elect President Trump. Together, we will win elections throughout the state and nation!

Sincerely,
Congressman Ron Estes

** State Update: Treasurer Jake LaTurner
------------------------------------------------------------
Friend,

We had a great summer of working hard and breaking records at the Kansas State Treasurer’s office. We kicked things off with the celebration of another record-breaking fiscal year! Thanks to our dedicated staff in our unclaimed property division, working together with Wichita’s KWCH-TV and Topeka’s WIBW-TV, the Treasurer’s office returned over $27.1 million in unclaimed property to the people of Kansas. This allowed us to beat our record of unclaimed property returns for the second year in a row!

We are always thinking outside the box on new ways to connect Kansans with their unclaimed dollars, and this summer we kicked off an initiative we call Bucks Back to Business. It is our responsibility to get as much of the unclaimed dollars in the Treasury back to as many Kansans as possible, and that includes business owners. Unfortunately, with so many scammers out there, it can be hard for people to believe us when we call them up to tell them we have money for them that we’d like to give back, for free. So, for the last three months, we have been traveling the state meeting with city and county leaders and chamber of commerce officials discussing ways we can get their help connecting businesses in their towns and counties with their unclaimed property. Many of these city and county officials already have relationships with their local businesses, and with their help we have been able to return many more claims than we would have been able to do on our own.

We continue to remind everyone to check back regularly on our website: KansasCash.ks.gov to search for themselves, their business, and their family members. There’s still over $350 million waiting to be claimed and some of it could be yours!

Best wishes,

Jake LaTurner
Kansas State Treasurer
